Ukraine: European leaders “ready to work” for trilateral summit

European leaders today declared themselves "ready to work" with the US and Ukrainian presidents for a trilateral summit, while warning that Moscow has no veto power over Ukraine's accession to the European Union and NATO.
"As President Trump anticipated, the next step should now be new negotiations, including with President Zelensky, with whom he will meet soon. We are also ready to work with President Trump and President Zelensky towards a trilateral summit with European support," wrote European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President António Costa, and the leaders of the United Kingdom, Germany, Finland, Italy, and Poland in a joint statement today.
The joint position comes the day after the summit, held in Alaska (USA), between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, which ended without a ceasefire agreement in Ukraine.
